Based in Asheville, Robert creates sculptures from repeated geometric elements that somehow seem to twist, unwind, and move. Without relying on curved cuts, he uses subtle changes in spacing, balance, mass, and volume to create an almost organic sense of movement. His sculptures are especially rewarding in person. As you move around them, the shapes, negative spaces, light, and shadows change—so the sculpture itself seems to change with you. Robert has been an active part of the Asheville arts community for many years, including founding and curating RiverSculpture, a contemporary outdoor sculpture exhibition.
